I’ve written a book about learning and teaching traditional music in community-based settings, drawing on my PhD research with Glasgow Folk-Music Workshop. It’s an ethnographic work which examines learning and teaching practices and ideologogy. It also gives a historical perspective on the development of this and similar organisations, such as Edinburgh’s Scots Music Group and Aberdeen ‘s Scottish Culture and Traditions. I hope it’ll be of interest not just to scholars but also to tutors, organisers and participants. You can find the book here
